Arzente, an ancient variant of the word “ardente”, is a term coined by Gabriele D’Annunzio in the 1930s to indicate wine distillate or, more commonly, “brandy” with an Italian name.

In 1951 when it was forbidden to use the word Cognac for italian brandy
